My Story
-May 2016, I Purchased an Overgrown, Outdated, Crumbling Lasher Family Estate after returning home to my Native Sussex County Roots in Millsboro, DE.
-My family had moved to Millsboro, DE in 1983 at the age of 4 from Akron, Ohio. My father did construction & drywall work attracted my parents to DE.
-Loving the Arts, Traveling & Outdoors, I grew up in Sussex County, learning construction & tools along- side my Drywall- Hanger/ woodworking Father. I graduated from Sussex Central in 1997. I Started work as a dishwasher at 13 at "Holiday Chicken" near Long neck, waited tables at The Roadhouse Steak Joint in Rehoboth Beach for 7 years.
-Unsure of my future, I attended Del Tech Community College from 1997-2001, Majored in Architectural Engineering, Interior design & Art History.
-As a waitress, I took a break to see the world, traveled to Egypt & Greece, then transferred to U of DE in 2001-2003 & finished with a Bachelors Degree in Art History, traveling to Italy & Ireland along the way.
-2003, I moved from Newark, DE to PA- Marrying in 2006-2016. Along the way, I was a Nanny, Licensed realtor- sold Investment Real Estate for Coldwell Banker/ Conshohocken, PA for 5 years, until I received my Associates Degree in Nursing from Montgomery County Community College, PA. I Started my nursing career in 2003 at Reading Hospital, specializing in the OR. Welcoming my son Enzo in 2013.
-Missing DE, I lived & worked in PA for 13 years up until life brought me back home to Sussex County.
Excited to be back home living with my family, my then 2 yr old, My Mother, Father helped me (May 2016) -look for a worthwhile post-divorce project to dive into, finding the Lasher Estate for sale & vacant for 8 yrs., we reached agreement & made renovation plans.
Waiting for settlement & Excited for the project, July 2016, Suicide suddenly took my Father, my renovation partner, Kurt Fink-
-In his memory, I pushed forward, to continue to Purchase the Estate, bringing my mom, brother & son with me, I Decided to Continue to live in & Renovate the estate, designing & doing the projects on my own, hiring contractors for window, door & roof replacements & any major plumbing or electrical issues.
-After 5 years, During Covid, I lost my OR nursing job & pushed myself to finish the inside of the Estate while Quarantined & Isolated inside with my mother& son . April 2020- I finished the interior of the Estate, hardscaped & landscaped the front yard & started listing the renovated bedrooms one by one on Air-B-NB, I opened my Airbnb to traveling health care workers during Covid.
-I Created Plantation Ridge LLC July 2020.
Picking up during Covid 2020 as a traveling OR nurse myself, I then met Brad in Dec. 2020 & February 2021, together we launched the Entire 6,500, 2.5 acre Estate as an total Airbnb & Venue Rental. Continued the waterfront Hardscaping project August-Sept 2021 & Ourselves marrying at our own Venue Oct. 2021.

My Story
I am a born and raised Sussex County Delaware native from Millsboro.
I have a twin brother and older brother having all attended Sussex Central. My parents are also native having worked and lived in Millsboro their entire lives and still together today.
With a never ending passion in High School and through family members who had served; I found my heart guiding me to join the military. At the ripe age of 18 I found myself hopping off a bus in the early morning hours in San Antonio, Texas to embark on a 4 year enlistment in the United States Air Force. I completed basic and started my training as a Security Police member. The 4 year span took me to many locations foreign and domestic and fed into the driving passion to pursue Law Enforcement on the outside of the military.
I honorably discharged from my first enlistment and came back to Delaware where I was offered a position as a Certified Police Officer. I attended the Delaware State Police Academy and started an 11 year career in civilian Law Enforcement.
During that span I decided to also try and gain more time in the military and joined the Army Reserves.
As years past already having been Law Enforcement as a civilian, I wanted to expand my knowledge in other careers so I joined the Air Force Reserves as a C-5 Crew Chief to gain experience in aircraft maintenance while serving as a fulltime police officer.
Shortly after. the events of 9/11 occurred and was activated back to Air Force active duty. It was during this time I found myself thinking about how I could make a difference after the 9/11 tragedy. I applied and after a lengthy process, was hired to be a Federal Air Marshal. I went away for specialized training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy and add on Federal Air Marshal Academy for many months.
I served for 5 years at our New York City Field office then transferring to the Philadelphia Field Office for another 5 years. Weekly overseas missions took a toll on my ears and at nearly 3 million miles, the government forced me to medically retire to avoid any further hearing damage.
I opened my own business and started retirement at the young age of 43.
Having divorced from 17 years of marriage, I began to start this new life of single and retired.
I have 4 kids total, 26, 20, 15 and 14 who keep me on my toes with many sports and activities so retirement was quite busy.
Then in December 2020, my life changed totally and I met Alyson.
We attended the same school but never crossed paths having the same friends.
God had a plan for us and brought us together at this point in our lives for a reason.
I can truly say my life is complete and love sharing our story to everyone we meet in this Airbnb/wedding Venue business.

Twisted Paths Somehow Meant for Collision--Although Brad & I went to the same High School (Sussex Central) & grew up in the Same Hometown of Millsboro, DE for those early 18 years we never met- We never knew each other
- Life took us in different Paths for 2 whole decades away from our small town we both grew up in. Full of careers, travel, love, loss & family. -Until the height of Covid.
In fact, because of Covid, our first date was over coffee at The Estate at Plantation Ridge. We knew quickly we were meant for each other & started planning together.
-After 3 months of Dating Brad proposed on a balcony in Miami.
-Just as easy & fun as being together, we found Working together building up a business was even more easy & fun.
-We started running the Estate as a wedding venue together, along with managing the Airbnb rental portion of it.
- We decided, In addition to the wedding venue, the couples would also get Brad & I to Help Coordinate their "Day of Wedding" - as we enjoy helping Sending off a Happy Couple & their Families at the Estate.
- A few months later, We started to renovation of the outdoor dirt covered slop of waterfront area of The Estate June of 2021.
-7 months later in Oct of 2021, we got married at the same hardscapped waterfront area at Plantation Ridge we just Transformed together!
-Spending & enjoying the 2021 winter as newlyweds, we started to build our new life & families together renovating another Estate Property while planning our next projects to Build The Estate at Plantation Ridge.
- Feb. of 2022 We began to see the steel indoor pool with glass enclosure, that housed a 10 ft deep, 40 x 80 pool still functioning but decaying from the 90s would ironically make a great indoor Event Reception Area!
- We enjoy Running & Building this business together with our families & navigating the challenges it brings.
-We enjoy keeping & preserving the "Hometown" in this Historical Estate & Our Business.
-We love Sharing this magical place -
